At The International School of Azerbaijan (TISA), Education Design International (EDI) led the extensive renovation of a 20-year-old campus, reimagining it as a vibrant, future-ready learning environment designed to maximize educational outcomes and support the school’s mission to “engage, empower, and inspire.”

The original campus layout, characterized by traditional corridors and closed classrooms, was reconfigured into a dynamic learning community model. A newly established spatial axis introduces a clear sense of entry and identity, connecting the campus heart, library, and café with fluid indoor-outdoor integration.

To enhance connectivity and cohesion across campus, EDI introduced covered walkways, defined circulation paths, and strong physical and visual links between buildings, landscapes, and learning environments.

Interiors have been opened up and reprogrammed into flexible, small-scale learning zones that support collaborative work, peer learning, and independent study. The double-height corridors were creatively activated with reading and learning lofts, optimizing space vertically and creating engaging breakout areas.

By increasing natural light, ventilation, and spatial transparency, the transformation supports well-being, focus, and student agency, setting a new benchmark for international school design in the region.
