Mugdha Thakurdesai is a Design Principal at Education Design International, where she leads a team of architects and interior designers from the firm’s Bangalore studio. She brings with her a strong foundation in sustainable design, having begun her career in California with an architectural practice specializing in sustainable architecture. With a special interest in eco-friendly design, she is committed to creating environments that are as responsible as they are inspiring.
Her professional experience spans across geographies, giving her a global perspective on design. Mugdha is particularly passionate about shaping educational spaces for the 21st century—schools that go beyond functionality to become vibrant, innovative, and nurturing environments for students. She believes that well-designed learning spaces can spark curiosity, foster collaboration, and empower young minds to thrive.
Mugdha holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado, Denver, and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Pune. A LEED Accredited Professional (LEED-AP), she has contributed to numerous LEED-certified projects and has successfully delivered prestigious schools across India, the Middle East, and beyond. Her ability to engage closely with client communities and translate their aspirations into tailored design solutions has been key to her success in creating innovative learning environments.
